She didn’t care about me being well-liked, she cared about me living a life well-lived. She didn’t avoid conflict in the present, because she cared about my future.
She was the most hard-working, convicted, disciplined, forgiving woman I knew.
She always had time to listen — five-year-old-monologues and 15-year-old-despairs.
I knew I could tell her anything. She always had open arms.
She saw past my faults and failures, and pointed me to the Perfect One.
She told me I could be whatever I wanted to be.
And I wanted to be like her.
